The weather will stay warm and unsettled today as a cool front approaches from our north and its passage will usher in cooler air for the mid-week time period. Highs this afternoon are likely to reach the lower 80’s ahead of the front, but then drop to the low-to-mid 70’s for highs on Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms may accompany the frontal passage later today and tonight and then the chance for showers will diminish on Wednesday as the cooler air arrives.

By tonight, a cool front will arrive in the area and our winds will turn to a northerly direction following its passage. As a result, temperatures will be shaved by about ten degrees or so as far as afternoon highs are concerned from 85 degrees today to around 75 degrees on Thursday.

Weak high pressure will control the weather today and low-level flow will veer to SE/S and temperatures should soar well into the 80’s as a result. On Wednesday, broad trough of low pressure will shift eastward to the eastern states and instability will rise around here increasing our chances for showers and thunderstorms.

A frontal system associated with the upper-level trough could bring some shower activity to the region at mid-week, but much of the time over the next few days will be warm and rain-free.

High pressure over the western Atlantic will give way to an approaching upper-level trough, but we’ll stay generally rain-free and warm into the day on Friday. By tomorrow night and Saturday, upper-level trough axis will reach the east coast and this will be close enough to increase our shower chances as we move into the weekend.
