A cold front has stalled out across north/central Florida and this positioning will keep it somewhat unsettled around here as we close out the work week with the chance of showers and thunderstorms from mid-to-late afternoon through the evening hours. The threat for scattered showers and storms will diminish on Saturday, but then increase again for the second half of the weekend.

A cold front will drop southeast today across the Florida Panhandle and temperatures here ahead of it should respond by climbing well up into the 80’s and the winds will kick up in intensity. The same front will tend to stall out across north/central Florida later tonight and tomorrow and this positioning will keep it somewhat unsettled around here as we close out the work week on Friday. The threat for scattered showers and storms will continue this weekend with the frontal boundary zone draped across the region.

A weak high pressure system will produce a low-level southerly flow of air today and the winds can kick up at times to 25 mph or so. A front will approach the region on Thursday and the result could be a scattered shower or thunderstorm. The same front will tend to stall out across north/central Florida on Friday and this will keep the threat alive here on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

High pressure will remain in control around here for the next few days and temperatures will generally reach the 80 degree mark for afternoon highs. The winds will also tend to pick up in intensity as the week progresses with an onshore flow forming around high pressure over the western Atlantic. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will pick up this weekend as moisture increases with the expected onshore flow of air.

It’ll remain on the windy side as we begin the weekend, but a warming trend will get underway.
