Tonight

Partly cloudy, cool, fog late, lows in the low 60’s

Tuesday

Fog possible early then mostly sunny skies, breezy, mid 70’s

Tuesday Night

Mostly cloudy, cool, fog late, low-to-mid 60’s

Wednesday

Fog possible early then mostly sunny skies, mid-to-upper 70’s

Friday

Fog possible early then mostly sunny skies, mid-to-upper 70’s

Saturday

Fog possible early then mostly sunny skies, mid-to-upper 70’s

Discussion

High pressure should control our weather for much of the week as we begin a warming trend. Temperatures should actually rise to slightly above normal levels for much of the week. Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Ernesto continues to chug along to the west in the Caribbean Sea. It is headed on a path that would take it right into the Yucatan Peninsula section of Mexico. Tropical Depression Florence is situated in the central Atlantic and has weakened recently as it has encountered lots of dry air.

Discussion

The hottest weather this weekend shifted westward to places like Oregon and Washington while the central Rockies enjoyed a cool down. We will return to within a few degrees of 90 this afternoon and much of the week will see highs in that area, but extreme heat is not expected.

7:00 AM | Highs near 70 degrees along the coast right through the weekend

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Patchy fog early then gradually becoming mostly sunny, highs near 70 degrees

Temperatures will generally hold in the 70-74 degree range for daily high temperatures right into next week.

7:00 AM | 90's today, but noticeably cooler tomorrow

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, hot, highs in the low-to-mid 90’s

Tonight

Partly cloudy, mild, low 60’s for lows

Saturday

Discussion

It’ll turn hotter and drier today to close out the work week, but then a weak cool front drops through early Saturday lowering our high temperatures noticeably to start the weekend. By late in the weekend; however, another warm up will begin and that will continue into early next week.

7:00 AM | Still a threat for some shower and thunderstorm activity; cooler for Saturday after a hot Friday

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Partly sunny, hot, chance for more showers and thunderstorms, highs in the low 90’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm, low 60’s for lows

Friday

Mostly sunny, hot, highs in the low-to-mid 90’s

Friday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, low 60’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, not as hot, light N wind, mid 80’s

Sunday

Mostly sunny, very warm, near 90

Monday

Mostly sunny, hot, low 90’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, hot, maybe a shower or thunderstorm, low 90’s

Discussion

There will still be a threat for some shower and thunderstorm activity on Thursday as an upper-level trough passes through the region which will destabilize the atmosphere somewhat. In fact, there is the chance that some of the storms that do form will contain some heavy rainfall along with gusty winds. It’ll turn hotter and drier on Friday to close out the work week, but then a weak cool front drops through early Saturday lowering our high temperatures noticeably to begin the weekend. By late in the weekend, another warm up will begin and that will continue into early next week.

7:00 AM | Sub-tropical flow continues for another day, but then gets cutoff somewhat for the late week

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Partly sunny, hot, chance for more showers and thunderstorms, highs in the low-to-mid 90’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm, mid 60’s for lows

Thursday

Partly sunny, hot, chance for a few showers and thunderstorms, highs in the low 90’s

Thursday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, slight chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm, low 60’s

Friday

Mostly sunny, hot, low-to-mid 90’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, not as hot, mid-to-upper 80’s

Sunday

Mostly sunny, very warm, near 90

Monday

Partly sunny, hot, maybe a shower or thunderstorm, low 90’s

Discussion

The monsoonal pattern continues for another day, but then there will be a transition to an overall drier pattern for a couple of days and, as a result, temperatures will head back well up in the 90’s by Friday. The cause of the drier weather pattern will be a shift westward of the Great Plains high pressure ridge which will, in turn, act to partially cutoff the moisture-laden sub-tropical air from reaching the Colorado Rockies region. It'll turn somewhat cooler on Saturday following the passage of an upper level trough.

3:40 PM (ET) | Powerful thunderstorms to move east through the Denver metro region and towards Aurora during the next couple of hours

Paul Dorian

Discussion

Powerful thunderstorms have formed just to the west of Denver and they are moving towards the east at about 15 mph. These storms are capable of putting down heavy rainfall with up to an inch possible in 30 minutes as well as frequent lightning and small hail. Places just to the east of Denver such as Aurora can be affected by these storms during the next hour or two. More showers and strong storms threaten the same areas for later this afternoon and early this evening as the monsoonal flow of sub-tropical moist air continues through tonight and into Wednesday.

7:00 AM | Hotter and drier later this week as the monsoonal flow gets cutoff, but the threat for more showers and storms later today

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Partly sunny, breezy, very warm, chance for a few showers and thunderstorms and some of the rain can be heavy at times, highs in the low 90’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm, mid 60’s for lows

Wednesday

Mostly sunny, very warm, chance for a few showers and thunderstorms, highs in the low-to-mid 90’s

Wednesday Night

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm, mid 60’s for lows

Thursday

Mostly sunny, hot, low-to-mid 90’s

Friday

Mostly sunny, hot, low-to-mid 90’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, not as hot, upper 80’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, very warm, near 90

Discussion

Monsoonal moisture will play a role again in our weather for today and tonight with the threat for more showers and storms and some of the rainfall can be heavy at times. Then there will be a transition to an overall drier pattern during the mid-week and, as a result, temperatures will head back well up in the 90’s for that time period. The cause of the drier weather pattern will be a shift westward of the Great Plains high pressure ridge which will, in turn, act to cutoff the moisture-laden sub-tropical air from reaching the Colorado Rockies region.
