7:00 AM | More snow possible as upper trough passes through the area

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly cloudy with a chance for some snow, cold, highs in the mid-to-upper 20’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, very cold, some snow possible, lows near 10 degrees

Friday

Partly sunny, cold, highs near 30

Friday Night

Mostly clear, very cold, lows near 10 degrees

Saturday

Mostly sunny, cold, low 30’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, cold, mid 30’s

Monday

Mostly sunny, cold, near 30

Tuesday

Partly sunny, cold, low 30’s

Discussion

Broad upper level trough of low pressure will move across the region today and this could cause some more snow in the region with the greatest threat in the mountains. By tomorrow, northwesterly flow aloft will kick in and some drying should occur although it’ll remain quite cold. A bit of a moderation in temperatures is expected by later this weekend as the flow becomes more southwesterly.

Another widespread snow event is in the offing for the central and southern Rockies which will bring us a white Christmas and make travel quite difficult. Snowfall continues this morning and will end up this afternoon in the 4-6 inch range as the disturbance winds down late in the day. High pressure will then build over the state on Wednesday with very cold morning temperatures expected.

Discussion

An active weather pattern continues with a series of systems affecting the region this week. The good news is that one day that will be in between systems will be Tuesday, Christmas Day, but by mid-week, the next wave of low pressure in the series is likely to affect us with more rain and continued cool conditions.

7:00 AM | More snow and bitter cold on the way

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly cloudy, cold, highs in the low-to-mid 30’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, cold, snow likely, lows in the lower teens

Tuesday

Mostly cloudy, some snow possible early, very cold, highs near 20

Tuesday Night

Partly sunny, cold, mid 30’s

Friday

Mostly cloudy, cold, chance for some snow, near 30

Saturday

Becoming mostly sunny, cold, near 30

Discussion

More active weather is in store for the region this week. An upper level trough will move over the state later today into tomorrow and it should generate some more snow around here late tonight and part of Tuesday. After tomorrow, dry and very cold weather will take over with lows by early Wednesday down into the single digits. Another system will have to be watched for the end of the week time frame.

7:00 AM | Not a bad day to close out the work week, but more rain is coming

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, pleasantly cool, highs in the mid 60’s

Tonight

Partly cloudy, chilly, lows in the upper 40’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, cool, showers possible late, low 60’s

Saturday Night

Mostly cloudy, cool, rain likely, low 50’s

Sunday

Mostly cloudy, cool, showers likely, near 60

Monday

Mostly cloudy, cool, chance for more rain, upper 50’s

Tuesday

Mostly sunny, cool, near 60

Wednesday

Mostly sunny, pleasant, mid 60’s

Discussion

A front will sweep across the region later today, but it should be rather weak and moisture-starved. Multiple systems will approach the region this weekend and early next week and they will keep the weather quite cool and unsettled. The strongest system appears to be the one headed our way for the Sunday time frame.

Discussion

Upper level ridge of high pressure will remain over the southern Rockies through tomorrow. This will bring mild and generally clear conditions to the region. By the time Christmas Eve and Christmas Day roll around early next week, the attention will shift towards the chance for more snow as an upper level trough advances cold Arctic air our way.
