Discussion
A southwest flow in the upper atmosphere will continue today as an upper level trough slides across Montana and Wyoming. Enough moisture will advance northward into the region from southern Colorado to generate isolated showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures today should peak near 90 degrees which won't help out with the wildfire situation, but they will drop this weekend to much more comfortable levels at or slightly above the 80 degree mark. These fires centered near Colorado Springs are quite widespread now and only about 5% contained at last report. Hopefully, they won't end up reaching the extent of the great Colorado wildfires that occurred during the 1890's as showers and thunderstorms should help out with the situation early next week.
