Discussion

High pressure in the upper atmosphere stretches from the Four Corners region to the southern Plains and will continue to generate very warm conditions in the southern Rockies for today. This upper level ridge will shift eastward by the weekend and this will allow for moist air to flow into the region from the Southwest US. As a result, there will be the threat for scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms from late this week right into early next week.
