Discussion
A brutal Arctic air mass will plunge into the region later today and temperatures by tomorrow morning are likely to be in the single digits. Snow will accompany this invasion of Arctic air beginning late this afternoon and continuing through Wednesday with several inches likely on the Plains on the order of 4-8 inches. To make matters even worse, strong winds will generate even lower wind chill values than the actual air temperatures during the next few days. Temperatures remain bitter cold late this week and weekend although there will be some slight modification in the extreme cold.
