Discussion
A soaking rain event is unfolding for much of Florida as low pressure pushes into the southern half of the state from the Gulf of Mexico. There will be occasional rain in the region from later today into Thursday and perhaps a strong thunderstorm or two as cooling aloft will combine with increasing low-level moisture to support enough buoyancy for scattered thunderstorms. The Gulf of Mexico low pressure system is moving quite slowly so significant clearing will likely not take place around here until Friday.
