Discussion

A strong upper-level low pressure system over the Midwest will move into the Northeast US today and act to push the subtropical ridge axis to our south and this will result in a more favorable pattern here for showers and thunderstorms. The chance for showers and thunderstorms will be quite high over the next several days. Atlantic Basin tropical activity continues to remain subdued, but high pressure will build into southeastern Canada this weekend and that always raises a red flag this time of year as conditions often become more favorable for development in the southwestern Atlantic.
