It remains warm during the next couple of days and winds will become a noticeable factor gusting up to 25 or 30 mph at times. There will be an isolated shower or thunderstorm later today and a better chance on Tuesday at which time some of the storms can be severe over the plains. It turns noticeably cooler late in the week with a strong upper-level low moving into the Rocky Mountain States and high mountain snows will become a possibility by the weekend.

Temperatures will reach the lower 80’s this afternoon – not as high as on Thursday – but the dry conditions will continue as will the risk of wildfire smoke in some areas. Dry, moderately warm weather will continue this weekend although an isolated thunderstorm is possible. Dry weather continues next week with the risk of additional wildfire activity across Colorado.

Temperatures will soar to near 90 degrees later today and strong southerly winds will increase the risk of wildfire activity in this entrenched dry air mass. The wind will relax some on Friday and temperatures will drop to more seasonable levels with afternoon highs likely in the lower 80’s as we end the work week. The weekend is looking dry and moderately warm with plenty of sunshine expected on both days.
