The next few days will be among the hottest of the summer so far with afternoon highs in the middle 90’s today and Thursday and a flirtation with the 100-degree mark is likely on Wednesday. There can be scattered showers and thunderstorms later today, but Wednesday and Thursday are liable to be completely rain-free to go along with the very hot conditions.

It’ll remain very warm today across the region and there is a good chance for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms…some of the storms can be strong-to-severe. Hot weather is likely at mid-week with temperatures likely soaring to the upper 90’s and they’ll stay well up in the 90’s on Thursday as well.

The big story around here (and across much of the nation) is the scorching heat that can result in record-breaking highs around here today, tomorrow, and on Sunday. Temperatures should peak later today near 100 degrees, and they’ll surge on Saturday and Sunday well up into the 90’s. Relief is on the way for early next week with noticeably cooler conditions expected for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday along with the chance of showers and thunderstorms.
