Temperatures should peak near the 90-degree mark during the next couple of days to go along with plenty of sunshine that is expected; however, it’ll turn noticeably hotter by early next week. Low-level flow from the southeast will bring in more humid air later today and this will increase the chances for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms after what has been a dry stretch of weather. Temperatures will remain in the comfortable 80’s for highs, but building high pressure ridging going into the weekend will lead to hotter weather across northern Alabama. In fact, afternoon highs should reach 90 degrees by early this weekend and then the middle 90’s are likely early next week.

A comfortable air mass that pushed into our area earlier this week will stay in place for another couple of days resulting in afternoon highs generally in the mid-to-upper 80’s. High pressure will shift to the east of here late in the week and this repositioning will open the door for hotter air to push in from southwest of here. In fact, temperatures should climb into the low-to-mid 90’s for highs on both weekend days and then perhaps into the middle and upper 90’s by the early part of next week.

High pressure slid to our east on Thursday and this change in position has resulted in an influx of warm, humid air and the overall weather will become more unsettled for the next few days. In fact, the chance of showers and thunderstorms that increases today will stick around all weekend long with temperatures trending downward a bit with tomorrow’s highs near 90 and then the mid-to-upper 80’s for Sunday. A more comfortable air mass arrives for the early and middle portions of next week following the passage of a cool frontal system.
