6:30 AM | **A hot week ahead for the Tennessee Valley**

Paul Dorian

The week ahead looks filled with hot weather across the Tennessee Valley as strong upper-level ridging builds into this part of the nation. Overall humidity levels will not rise too dramatically, but the dry atmosphere may be an aid for temperatures to climb well into the 90’s on a daily basis.

7:00 AM | *An influx of higher humidity later today raises the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms*

Paul Dorian

Low-level flow from the southeast will bring in more humid air later today and this will increase the chances for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms after what has been a dry stretch of weather. Temperatures will remain in the comfortable 80’s for highs, but building high pressure ridging going into the weekend will lead to hotter weather across northern Alabama. Paul Dorian

A comfortable air mass that pushed into our area earlier this week will stay in place for another couple of days resulting in afternoon highs generally in the mid-to-upper 80’s. High pressure will shift to the east of here late in the week and this repositioning will open the door for hotter air to push in from southwest of here. In fact, temperatures should climb into the low-to-mid 90’s for highs on both weekend days and then perhaps into the middle and upper 90’s by the early part of next week.

Paul Dorian

High pressure slid to our east on Thursday and this change in position has resulted in an influx of warm, humid air and the overall weather will become more unsettled for the next few days. In fact, the chance of showers and thunderstorms that increases today will stick around all weekend long with temperatures trending downward a bit with tomorrow’s highs near 90 and then the mid-to-upper 80’s for Sunday. A more comfortable air mass arrives for the early and middle portions of next week following the passage of a cool frontal system.

7:00 AM | *High temperatures near the 90-degree mark next few days*

Paul Dorian

High pressure slides to our east here today and this change in position will result in warmer, more humid, and unsettled conditions for the next few days with a daily chance of showers and thunderstorms. In addition to the ridge moving to the east, an upper-level trough has pushed into the center of the nation and the southerly flow between the two systems is increasing our overall humidity levels across the Tennessee Valley region.
