Record breaking warmth possible this week…
A significant warmup is coming to the eastern states this week with temperatures climbing to near 80 degrees around here today and then well up in the 80’s on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday…even 90 degrees is on the table. The weather pattern has been quite dry in recent days across the eastern US and that trend looks to continue this week with minimal chances of any decent rainfall and just the chance of a shower from time-to-time.

The work week will end with clouds this morning giving way to some sun for the afternoon and it’ll turn noticeably milder compared to recent days ahead of the next cool front. That front comes through the region later tonight and temperatures on Saturday will be a tad lower than today and northwest winds will kick up at times. Looking ahead, a significant warmup is expected for the early and middle parts of next week. Temperatures should climb well up into the 70’s on Monday for afternoon highs and then the 80’s are coming for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The day will start off on the frosty side, but it’ll turn a bit milder this afternoon with plenty of sunshine and light winds. It turns even milder on Friday ahead of the next cold front and there can be a shower on Friday night. The weekend will start off with breezy and cooler conditions on Saturday to go along with some sun and seasonal temperatures will close out the weekend with more sunshine expected on Sunday. Looking ahead, the weather turns much warmer next week with the mid-to-upper 70’s on the table for Monday for afternoon highs and the middle 80’s by Tuesday afternoon.

It remains colder-than-normal today on the heels of secondary cold frontal passage on Tuesday morning with temperatures some five-to-ten degrees below the average for this time of year. Temperatures later tonight can drop to the low-to-mid 30’s in many suburban locations and patchy frost is indeed possible. It turns milder by the end of the week and we are setting up for a pretty nice weekend in the NYC metro region with sunny, dry, and mild days. Much warmer weather is on the way for next week in the Mid-Atlantic region.

One cold front slipped through the region on Sunday and a secondary will push through this morning and it’ll usher in even colder air than its predecessor. Temperatures today will be confined to near 50 degrees for afternoon highs which is about ten degrees below the normal for this time of year. With clear skies tonight, diminishing winds, and high pressure moving nearby, conditions will be quite favorable for temperatures to drop to the upper 20’s in many suburban locations so prepare if there are sensitive plants out there (cover just before sunset with a light sheet or burlap). It stays quite chilly on Wednesday and temperatures could drop into the low-to-mid 30’s late Wednesday night/early Thursday and patchy frost is possible. Noticeably warmer weather returns to the Mid-Atlantic region late in the week and we may be setting up for a nice weekend with sunny, dry and mild days.

A cold front slid through the Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday paving the way for cooler air to start the new work week and a secondary cold front passes through early tomorrow. Temperatures today will reach the mid-to-upper 50’s for afternoon highs and likely do no better than near 50 degrees on Tuesday. By later tomorrow night, near freezing conditions are likely across many suburban locations with temperatures dropping into the lower 30’s…it turns warmer again by the end of the week.

A warm front should lift north of the area later this morning resulting in a low-level wind shift to a south-to-southwest direction and a rise of temperatures this afternoon that can peak in the lower 70’s. We’ll stay in the warm air mass as we head into the weekend with 75+ degrees on the table for Saturday - a possible record-breaker - along with the threat of PM showers and thunderstorms. A cold front slides across the area on Easter Sunday producing occasional rain in the area and there can be a thunderstorm as well. The passage of the cold front will lead to colder conditions for the first half of next week with overnight lows below freezing a possibility late Tuesday night in some suburban locations.

A cold frontal system passed through the region last night and the low-level wind flow has flipped as a result from a south-to-southwest direction to east-to-northeast. This change in winds will bring about much cooler conditions around here and there will be light rain or drizzle at times right into the overnight hours. The front pushes back to the north on Friday and it should become noticeably milder around here and the weekend starts off quite warm as well with Saturday afternoon highs near the 75 degree mark. The next cold front arrives on Easter Sunday and occasional showers are likely mainly during the morning and mid-day hours. It turns colder on Sunday night following the passage of the cold front with overnight low temperatures likely near 40 degrees to start off the new work week.

Today will be another very warm one in the Mid-Atlantic region - potentially record-breaking in some spots - with the mid-to-upper 70’s for afternoon highs around here. A strong cold front approaches the region later in the day and there can be a shower or thunderstorm at just about anytime; especially, during the late day and evening hours...some of the storms can be strong. On Thursday, assuming the front slides just to our south, it’ll turn much cooler with an easterly flow of air in the local area. It remains somewhat unsettled on Friday and Saturday and then the next cold front approaches on Easter Sunday raising the chance of showers; primarily, during the morning and mid-day hours. Much cooler air follows the front for the early part of next week.
