A weak cool front will pass through the region by Thursday and high temperatures will likely drop about 10 degrees between today and tomorrow. After that, a quick warm-up will occur with temperatures to near 80 degrees by Friday and then well up in the 80’s this weekend. Rainfall should be rather insignificant over the next several days with the greatest chance for anything important well to our east over the central Plains.

High temperatures will be close to 70 degrees for the next couple of days and nighttime lows won’t be far from 60 degrees. Looking ahead, an upper level trough will likely approach the west coast by early next week bringing some low clouds and fog along with slightly cooler temperatures.

Discussion

The dry and cool weather of yesterday will continue today, but the strong winds have subsided to more manageable levels with sustained levels of 10-15 mph out of the NW expected for much of the day along with occasional gusts up to 20 mph. The dry weather will continue right into the weekend and a warming trend will begin tomorrow after one more chilly night in which the low temperatures could bottom out in the mid-to-upper 40’s in many locations. In fact, this could be the coolest nights so far this season in many spots thanks to clear skies and calm conditions. High temperatures will then begin a slow climb from near 80 degrees on Thursday to the mid-80’s by Sunday afternoon. Elsewhere, quite a nasty day in St. Louis for Game 1 of the World Series with some light rain and chilly conditions. It should be chilly again tonight with a stiff wind and wind chills in the 30's for the first game of the World Series. Looking ahead to Saturday evening's first game in Arlington, temperatures will be much better compared to St. Louis with highs on Saturday close to 80 degrees.

Thursday

Friday

Mostly sunny, warm, low 80’s

Saturday

Mostly sunny, warm, low-to-mid 80’s

Sunday

Mostly sunny, warm, mid 80’s

Discussion

A strong, moisture-starved cold front has moved through the region and it has ushered in a cooler and very dry air mass. Winds will be very strong today behind the front with northerly wind gusts of up to 40 mph likely. The combination of the strong wind gusts and low relative humidity will increase the fire threat over the next 12 hours or so with the most dangerous time during the afternoon hours. Winds will start off quite strong early tonight, but then they’ll subside rather quickly later this evening lessening the fire threat. It'll get quite cool late tonight and again late tomorrow night with upper 40's likely in many locations. A gradual warming trend will develop later this week and it will continue right through the weekend with no rain in sight.

7:00 AM | Near 90 degrees today, but then windy and cooler on Tuesday

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Morning clouds and patchy fog then becoming mostly sunny, breezy, very warm, upper 80’s (normal high is 82 degrees)

Tonight

Mostly clear, breezy, cooler late, low 60’s

Tuesday

Windy and mostly sunny, not as warm, mid-to-upper 70’s

Wednesday

Mostly sunny, breezy, pleasant, mid 70’s

Thursday

Mostly sunny, pleasant, mid-to-upper 70’s

Friday

Mostly sunny, warm, highs near 80

Saturday

Mostly sunny, warm, low 80’s

Discussion

Today looks like the warmest day of the week and well-above normal, but then a strong, but dry cold front will whip through the region late tonight and it will usher in noticeably cooler air for the middle of the week. In fact, Tuesday and Wednesday nights will be the coolest nights so far this season as temperatures could bottom out in the mid-to-upper 40’s in some sections. Winds will gust to 35 mph behind the front on Tuesday and this combined with the low relative humidity will elevate the fire danger. Winds relax for Wednesday and Thursday and a warming trend will begin on Friday and continue into the weekend with no rain in sight. The weather looks quite nice for game 3 of the World Series in Arlington on Saturday with mostly sunny and pleasantly warm conditions expected.

7:15 AM | High pressure to bring us several warm, dry days and cool nights

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, warm, low-to-mid 80’s

Tonight

Mostly clear, pleasant this evening then turning quite cool late at night, lows in the upper 50’s

Saturday

Mostly sunny, warm, mid 80’s

Sunday

Mostly sunny with a few clouds, warm, mid 80’s

Monday

Mostly sunny with a few clouds, warm, upper 80’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, windy, not quite as warm, low 80’s

Wednesday

Mostly sunny, even cooler, mid-to-upper 70’s

Discussion

High pressure builds into the region this weekend leading to several dry and warm days across much of Texas. Temperatures should reach well up into the 80’s during the daytime hours over the next few days, but will drop off fairly rapidly at night given the dry atmospheric conditions. The next frontal system to affect the region will likely come through on the dry side during the day Tuesday, and it should lead to cooler temperatures by mid-week.
