Near 90 degrees today and tomorrow, but nothing like last year at this time
Paul Dorian
Temperatures will flirt with the 90 degree mark this afternoon and again tomorrow afternoon following a high yesterday of 86 degrees. Last year at this time the New York City region was baking in quite a heat wave with the high on the 4th of July of 96 degrees to be followed by an incredible high of 103 degrees on July 6th, 2010. No such heat wave this year and, after the run at 90 degrees today and tomorrow, the highs are more likely to be confined to the 80’s to finish out the week. A front will advance towards the region tomorrow as a warm front and this could set off a thunderstorm here tomorrow night and again during the day on Thursday. As far as June is concerned, the month ended slightly above normal temperature-wise (+1.1 degrees) and below normal precipitation-wise by a little more than half an inch. Today- mostly sunny, very warm, moderate humidity, near 90
Tonight- mainly clear, still pretty comfortable, near 70
Wed- mainly sunny, very warm, more humid, highs near 90; chance for a thunderstorm at night
Thurs- partly sunny, very warm, chance for a shower or thunderstorm, upper 80’s
Fri- partly sunny, warm, mid 80’s
Sat- mainly sunny, warm, mid 80’s
