Drenching thunderstorms later today...better for the weekend
Paul Dorian
The scattered strong thunderstorms of yesterday will be followed by more drenching showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Many of the thunderstorms that develop later today will contain torrential downpours and potentially damaging wind gusts. Localized flooding will also be a concern as these storms will be slow-moving and could dump a couple inches of rain in a short period time. The important Phils/Braves series that begins this evening may very well have some problems due to the weather, but the rest of the weekend should be fine. In fact, the weekend promises quite a bit of improvement with sunshine both days and very warm temperatures. The next frontal system that could affect us with a thunderstorm will come through on Monday night or Tuesday. Today- mostly cloudy, very humid with more widespread showers and thunderstorms, some of the storms will contain torrential rains and damaging wind gusts, highs in the mid 80’s
Tonight- still the threat for heavy showers and thunderstorms during the evening hours, mid 60’s
Sat- becoming mostly sunny, very warm, upper 80’s
Sun- mostly sunny, very warm, upper 80’s
Mon- mostly sunny, hot and more humid, chance for a thunderstorm at night, near 90
Tues- partly sunny, hot and humid with a shower or thunderstorm possible, near 90
Wed- mostly sunny, warm, mid 80’s
