Discussion

The brutal heat and humidity that arrived yesterday will continue today with some of the highest temperature readings that we have seen during the last 15 years. In fact, today may actually be the peak of this heat wave with high temperatures possibly slightly topping 100 degrees which would break the daily record set back in 1957. Tomorrow will again be very hot and humid, but then the trend will be down on Sunday as slightly less hot air moves into the Mid-Atlantic region. High temperatures will then likely hold in the upper 80’s during the Monday through Wednesday time period before yet another hot air mass threatens to move our way late next week. As far as precipitation is concerned, only an isolated thunderstorm is likely late today, but then they will become a bit more prevalent from tonight through the weekend. Any one of these scattered thunderstorms during this period can get quite strong with brief heavy downpours possible.
