6:05 PM | Powerful storms to sweep through the DC region over the next two hours with heavy rain and potentially damaging winds
Paul Dorian
Powerful storms have rapidly formed across central Virginia and they are closing in the DC metro region from the southwest. The next two hours (6:00-8:00PM) will bring heavy downpours, damaging winds and potentially even isolated tornadoes to the DC region with the threat greatest across the western (Virginia) suburbs (Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties). This unsettled weather pattern will continue though much of tomorrow as a vigorous upper-level system sweeps through the region.
