Discussion
A strong cold front is sweeping its way through the region from the southwest and it has a good deal of upper-level support. This energetic system will continue to threaten the region with showers and thunderstorms today and some of the rain can be heavy at times. Once the front clears through the region, the stage will be set for a cool, dry and windy Saturday with cool, dry, but calmer weather on Sunday and Monday; however, a shower or two cannot be ruled out for Sunday night and early Monday. A strong storm will affect much of the eastern half of the country by the middle of next week with rain likely along the east coast and perhaps enough cold air for some snow over the Great Lakes and upper Appalachian Mountains.
