Discussion
Very little rain has fallen so far this month (0.06 inches at Reagan National), but a soaking rain is on the way for tonight and tomorrow. A couple of showers are possible today, but the steadiest rain should develop tonight and continue tomorrow as a low pressure system rides along a frontal system from the Tennessee Valley to the Mid-Atlantic. The storm and associated frontal system will gradually move away early Thursday and colder air will rush in behind them to close out the work week. Temperatures on both Thursday and Friday will struggle to pass 50 degrees, but then a warming trend will develop this weekend. Elsewhere, building cold air in Alaska and western Canada could result in record low temperatures in those areas and that air mass will head towards the Pacific Northwest during the next few days. In fact, places like Seattle and Vancouver could experience snow late this week as a storm moves down the west coast of British Columbia.
