Discussion

The moisture-laden storm that blasted us yesterday and last night has raced to the northeast and is now near the coast of Maine. Philadelphia has now officially gone over the 62" mark for its yearly rainfall total and this breaks the "pre-modern" era record that was set in 1867. More than two inches of rain fell across a wide zone from DC to New York City with more than three inches recorded in some spots. In fact, 3.10 inches was recorded at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. and that was the most ever there from a single storm during the winter months of December through February. The next several days look to be dry and chilly with below normal temperatures likely this weekend. High pressure will gradually build into the East from the middle of the country by the weekend and it will control the weather through the early part of next week.
