12:45 PM | Snow, possibly mixed with sleet and rain, for the next several hours - primarily across the southern half of the DC metro region; slick spots tonight even after the precipitation ends

Discussion

Snow and sleet has broken out in parts of the DC metro region, primarily in the southern half of the area. This will be the trend for the next several hours with precipitation falling mainly from points to the south of the District. Temperatures are above freezing everywhere at this time, but there can be a few slick spots this afternoon and some light accumulations of up to an inch or so on grassy surfaces . More slick spots can form tonight - even after the precipitation ends around 6 or 7PM- as temperatures drop to or below the freezing mark so watch out for that potential "black ice".
