8:00 PM | Wintry mix approaching the NYC metro area

Discussion
A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is working its way across Pennsylvania and New Jersey at this hour and will move into the western and northern suburbs of New York any time after 9PM. Temperatures are around freezing in most locations and will drop a couple of degrees at the onset of the precipitation causing the potential for some slick spots to develop on the roads. The wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain, mixed with some snowflakes, will continue sporadically for the next several hours. By late tonight, temperatures should slowly rise above freezing and all precipitation should change to “plain” rain which will then continue on an occasional basis through much of the day.
