9:40 AM | Snow showers possible tonight with strong wind gusts

Paul Dorian

Discussion

An energetic cold front will sweep through the region overnight and it will likely be accompanied by snow showers, strong wind gusts and perhaps even a rumble of thunder. The timetable for this event is between about 6 and 12AM with the greatest chance for snow showers in the western suburbs (e.g., western Chester County). Across central PA, snow squalls are likely with near whiteout conditions for a brief time as this vigorous system moves across the state from west-to-east. Once the front passes late tonight, clearing will take place and colder air will move in to begin the new work week. Temperatures on Monday will hold primarily in the 30’s, but milder air will move in for the Tuesday through Thursday time period. Big changes temperature-wise, however, are likely in the longer term beginning this upcoming weekend and continuing into the following week.
