A fast-moving system will spread snow our way tomorrow afternoon and early evening and accumulations are likely on the order of a coating (S and E of the District) to up to 2 inches (northern suburbs). A little rain can mix in for brief time primarily in the District and points south and east of the city. There may even be some slick spots on the roads in time for the evening rush hour as temperatures drop to near freezing. The general timetable for this upcoming event is from the early afternoon hours into the early evening (noon-8PM). Elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic, the Philly metro region will get similar accumulations to us (coating S and E and up to 2 inches N and W suburbs) while NYC gets a tad less (coating to an inch) as the system loses a little punch by the time it reaches the coast. Longer term, a strong Arctic cold front will whip through the Mid-Atlantic region Friday night and it will usher in perhaps the coldest air mass of the season so far. Snow showers and strong winds may accompany the frontal passage late Friday night and early Saturday and those strong winds will continue for much of the weekend.
