Discussion

A great day for a parade in NYC today with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures for this time of year. A cold front will pass through the region tonight and then a fast-moving, but potent little system will ride along the front on Wednesday. This system will spread some precipitation into the region and odds favor snow with possible small accumulations of a coating to an inch during Wednesday afternoon and early evening. Looking ahead, last week we talked about a strong high pressure ridge that would develop across western North America and help to bring some of that bottled-up western Canadian cold air towards the eastern US. The first cold blast from this new pattern will occur this weekend following Friday night’s cold frontal passage and temperatures will likely not escape the 30’s on both weekend days and lows could drop to the single digits by Sunday night/early Monday.
