Pitchers and catchers report this week, which is the first sure sign of spring, and temperatures could actually pass 60 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Some snow fell last night just south of the District in places like Culpepper, Fredericksburg and Springfield, but the heaviest snow was across central and southern Virginia where reports of up to 8 inches were seen. The Mid-Atlantic storm that caused the snow is well off of the North Carolina coast and is continuing to pull away this morning and high pressure will work its way into the region into Tuesday before moving to the east. A weak front will then move through the region later Tuesday and it could spark a shower or two. A stronger front will pass through by the weekend and that will end the unseasonably mild weather that we'll experience during the second half of the week.
