Discussion

The current cold blast will confine temperatures today to no better than the low 50's for highs, but the winds will not be as strong as they were yesterday so the afternoon will not feel too harsh. The winds will die down completely tonight and will then shift to a southwesterly direction on Wednesday and this shift will promote some warming with temperatures likely to rise into the mid-to-upper 60’s for highs. A low pressure system will slide by to our north tomorrow night and it will swing a cold front through the region and this could set off some afternoon and evening showers, and perhaps a thunderstorm as well. It’ll turn cooler again on Thursday behind the front, but dry conditions should return to close out the work week. Finally, in clear skies early this morning, NASA successfully launched five rockets to study high-altitude winds. I saw five distinct "tracer clouds" in the southern sky at around 5am that kind of resembled "relatively short bow-shaped contrails" and they lasted for several minutes.
