The current cold blast will confine temperatures today primarily in the 40’s and a stiff wind will continue to produce even lower wind chills. The winds will die down tonight and will then shift to a southwesterly direction on Wednesday and this will promote some warming with temperatures likely to rise into the low 60’s after today’s struggle to reach 50 degrees. A low pressure system will slide by to our north tomorrow night and it will swing a cold front through the region and this could set off some afternoon and evening showers, and perhaps a thunderstorm as well. It’ll turn cooler again on Thursday behind the front, but dry conditions should return to close out the work week. Finally, in clear skies early this morning, NASA successfully launched five rockets to study high-altitude winds. I actually saw five distinct "tracer clouds" in the southern sky at around 5am that kind of resembled "relatively short bow-shaped contrails" and they lasted for several minutes.
