Discussion

A weak front will pass through the Mid-Atlantic region this morning and then strong high pressure will build southward from Canada tonight and Thursday. This widespread Canadian high pressure to our north will dominate the weather scene around here right through the upcoming weekend with mostly sunny days, chilly nights and a steady north breeze. The air mass associated with the high will start off quite cool on Thursday, but some modification will occur by the weekend and temperatures on Saturday and Sunday should pass 60 degrees, but the nights will remain quite chilly. Another frontal system will approach the area by Sunday night and Monday, and there is the potential for colder weather to move into the Mid-Atlantic by Tuesday of next week. Elsewhere, the storm that helped to cause the severe weather across Texas yesterday will move east today generating severe weather in the Lower Mississippi Valley. That same storm will then continue to head east tomorrow and could cause some rain at the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia later tomorrow and early Friday. Later in the weekend, this same storm will take a loop from well off the east coast back towards the Maine coast by Sunday night and Monday, and it could even generate some snow there by early next week.
