Discussion
A warm surge of air will move into the region today ahead of a cool front that will approach the area from the NW in the overnight hours. Temperatures today should move into the 70's, but there will also be the threat for a shower or thunderstorm as the cool front slowly closes in on the region. While a shower or thunderstorm can occur at just about any time, the best chance will be during the late afternoon or nighttime hours. Some of the storms can become strong with brief, heavy rains and strong winds, but they will be rather scattered. Temperatures will begin a downward trend this weekend and that trend will continue into early next week. Looking ahead, there is the chance for some even cooler weather late next week and weekend as an upper level trough sets up in the Northeast for a few days.
