Discussion
The week will begin with continued unseasonably cool temperatures and showers are likely for several hours as a batch of moisture moves in from our west. Tuesday will feature an increase in heat and humidity, but an even more noticeable change will occur on Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures will soar both days well up into the 90’s. This extreme heat will be short-lived, however, as a cold front will approach on Friday and it may bring us a few showers and possible thunderstorms to close out the work week. Once that front passes by the weekend, temperatures will return to more comfortable levels with highs in the mid 80’s on Saturday. As far as the recent coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are concerned, the "double hit" over the weekend indeed caused northern lights to be seen across parts of the northern US on Saturday night including reports as far south as Maryland's Assateague Island.
