Discussion
First off, for those of you who have been to Clearwater's Bright House stadium to see the Phillies play during spring training take a look at today's video to see an amazing scene of the stadium completely underwater thanks to Tropical Storm Debby. As far as our local weather is concerned, cooler air has moved into the Mid-Atlantic region following yesterday’s frontal passage and temperatures today will be back below normal with highs only reaching the mid-to-upper 70’s. After another comfortable night, temperatures will begin a rebound on Wednesday, and by Thursday we’ll get quite warm again with highs way up in the upper 80’s. Hot weather is in store for Friday and Saturday as temperatures will climb to at least the low-to-mid 90's along with the threat for a shower or thunderstorm. Back to the Florida situation, Tropical Storm Debby will meander around the northeastern Gulf of Mexico for the next couple of days continuing to dump heavy rainfall on the Gulf coastal region of Florida where some 20 inches has already been measured in spots. Debby will head northeastward later this week crossing Florida and moving to a position just off of the Southeast US coast. The other big weather story nationwide has been the extreme heat across the Rockies and Central Plains. Yesterday, for example, Denver, Colorado tied its all-time high temperature record of 105 degrees which had been matched only twice in its history (2005, 1878) since record-keeping began there in 1872. This extreme heat will expand to the South and Mid-Atlantic by late this week and weekend.
