6:15 PM | "Heat wave busting" thunderstorms closing in on the entire Philly metro region

The end of the heat wave is near, but it looks like much of the region will have to first endure some strong thunderstorm activity. A line of strong-to-severe thunderstorms is dropping southeastward toward the Philly metro region from upstate Pennsylvania and it should affect many local areas between 6:30 and 8:30PM. The greatest threat for severe weather associated with this line will be across Bucks and Montgomery Counties, but the entire Philly metro region can get hit over the next couple of hours with brief heavy rain, hail, gusty winds and perhaps even some isolated power outages. Sunday will be a transition day from today’s excessive heat (102 degree highs at Philly airport) to much more comfortable weather on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (highs in the 80’s).
