Discussion
The heat wave is over and we’ll enjoy much more comfortable conditions this week. A cold front dragged through the region on Sunday and has set up shop to our south. As a result, waves of low pressure may ride along the front into midweek, but most of this activity will stay to our south affecting the southern portion of the Mid-Atlantic region (e.g., DC, South Jersey). High pressure builds back into the region for the 2nd half of the week and high temperatures should still hold in the 80’s. Elsewhere, an update on the sun shows that as one big sunspot (AR1515) turns away from the Earth, another one is now turning toward our planet. AR1520, now emerging on the sun's southeastern limb, stretches more than 10 Earth diameters (127,000 km) from end-to-end and will be monitored over the next several days.
