Discussion
A batch of showers and strong thunderstorms over southern New York and NW New Jersey threatens the New York City metropolitan area from about 2:30 to 5:30PM. The southeast-moving thunderstorms are being generated by an upper level disturbance and can reach severe limits with heavy rain, damaging winds, frequent lightning and possible hail. The threat for more storms will continue until about midnight.
