Discussion
A wild day of weather is in store for much of the Mid-Atlantic region on Thursday. Our one day respite is over and heat and humidity will roar back into the area this afternoon as high pressure moves quickly off the east coast. As the front edge of the hot and humid air advances towards our region this morning, showers have broken out and they will threaten us during the mid and late morning hours. After that batch of rain passes by, the heat and humidity will move in during the afternoon hours. The combination of that juicy air mass and a strong upper level disturbance will then likely set off some strong-to-severe thunderstorm activity later this afternoon or tonight across much of the Mid-Atlantic region. After a nice day yesterday with highs in the 80’s, afternoon temperatures today will soar to the low and middle 90’s along with the rise in humidity. Temperatures will tend to trend slightly downward over the next couple of days so that more seasonal readings are likely this weekend.
