A warm front is heading northward today from the southern part of the Mid-Atlantic and more humid air has already moved back into our area after a one-day respite. Temperatures will climb to the upper 80's today with limited sunshine due to lots of high clouds. There can be some scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening and that threat for scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue on Thursday as well. A more organized threat will occur later Friday into Saturday as it appears the ingredients will come together for a potential late week heavy rain and severe weather event in the Mid-Atlantic. A strong upper-level trough will develop over the Great Lakes and Northeast by the end of the week and this will act to destabilize the atmosphere setting us up for this possibility of heavy rain and severe weather. It may take until Sunday for the trough to move far enough to the east to allow for genuine clearing skies to occur here along the I-95 corridor.
