Discussion

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible later today and tonight, but a more organized threat will occur tomorrow into Saturday as the ingredients are coming together for a potential severe weather event in the Mid-Atlantic to close out the work week. A strong upper-level trough will develop over the Great Lakes and Northeast US by the end of the week and this will act to destabilize the atmosphere setting us up for the possibility of heavy rain and severe weather. It may take until Sunday for the trough to move far enough to the east to allow for genuine clearing skies here along the I-95 corridor.
