8:30 PM | More showers and storms throughout the region over the next couple of hours, some with torrential rainfall

Paul Dorian

Discussion

An unsettled weather pattern will continue here right into tomorrow with more showers and thunderstorms and some of the rain will be extremely heavy. There is one batch of heavy showers and strong thunderstorms right now moving very slowly to the east from western Virginia and this area will affect the District and western Virginia suburbs over the next couple of hours. Meanwhile, additional heavy showers and slow-moving powerful thunderstorms have formed north of the District and these will slam much of Maryland over the next couple of hours from Montgomery County to north of Baltimore and severe weather is a real threat from these storm cells. Much nicer weather is in store for Thursday.
