Discussion
Temperatures will continue to be on the pleasant side today for this time of year and there is no extreme heat in sight. High pressure will gradually build into the northeastern part of the country over the next few days so we should enjoy primarily dry and comfortably warm conditions for the second half of the week although an afternoon shower or thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out on Wednesday. Elsewhere, a new tropical depression has formed (#9) and this will likely become Tropical Storm Isaac in a relatively short time. All indications are that this system will intensify over the next few days as it moves westward towards the island of Hispaniola by late week. Once past that island, steering winds will likely take Isaac towards Cuba and then South Florida by early next week, and the main question will be how much, if any, did the mountains of Hispaniola and Cuba weaken the tropical system?
