Discussion
A slow-moving frontal system continues to supply a boundary zone for low pressure to move along and this combined with moist air left behind by Isaac will continue our shower and thunderstorm threat for a couple more days. While much of the time will be rain-free, a shower or thunderstorm can occur at just about any time through Wednesday and the rain will fall heavily at times. The end of the week is likely to remain rain-free; however, more rain is possible this weekend.
Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Leslie is moving slowly across the Atlantic and it will continue to move on a slow pace for the next several days. This system is very likely to become a large Atlantic hurricane later this week as it moves slowly to the north and northwest. There are still some indications that Leslie can come uncomfortably close to the Northeast US coast by early next week so it will be closely monitored. At a minimum, given its expected size, strength and slow-movement, Leslie will produce rough surf up and down the east coast for much of the week.
