Discussion
The same large upper level trough of low pressure that played a key role in the development of Hurricane Sandy continues to remain over the Northeast US and this is the main reason why improvement following the storm has been so slow. Gradually, high pressure will build back into the region over the next few days and sunshine should become more prevalent. There are signs that another low pressure system will develop along the Northeast coast by the middle of next week, but it is still too early to say how, or if, it will affect our weather here in the Mid-Atlantic.
