Discussion

Low pressure will head northeast today towards the western Atlantic Ocean region just off the Mid-Atlantic coastline and it should undergo some late day and early evening intensification as colder air pushes in from the northwest. Precipitation will fall today in the northern and western suburbs primarily in the form of snow and it is likely to accumulate 1-3 inches with lesser amounts expected in Philly and points south and east. There will be slick spots on the roads during the day even with temperatures slightly above freezing as the snow will likely fall heavy enough at times to whiten the roadways. By later this afternoon and early this evening temperatures will drop to freezing or below as snow lingers in the region and all locations throughout the Philly metro region can develop slick roads. The storm pulls away later this evening and temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 20’s after reaching daytime highs early in the day in the upper 30’s. The rest of the week looks to be quite cold and dry with some sunshine each day.
