Discussion
High pressure will control the weather around here to close out the work week, but moisture from another storm system will approach the region towards morning. Snow is likely on Saturday from the District to points north and west as the storm moves to a position off the New Jersey coastline by evening. Accumulations are likely to occur on the order of 1-3 inches from the District to points north and west by the latter part of the day. The storm moves quickly and we’ll get back to dry and cold weather early next week. Elsewhere, another dramatic stratospheric warming event is about to occur near the North Pole in the next 10 days or so and it is detailed in today's video. This type of atmospheric event can sometimes be a precursor to additional cold air outbreaks into the US in coming weeks.
