4:55 PM | Freezing rain in the northern and western suburbs towards morning

Paul Dorian

Discussion

Freezing rain should move into the western and northern suburbs of Philly from west-to-east between about 3 and 7am as warmer air advances into the region. Surface temperatures should drop into the 20’s overnight with clear skies this evening followed by quickly thickening clouds after midnight. Slippery spots are likely towards morning on untreated roadways; especially, bridges and overpasses - just in time for the morning commute. By mid-morning, temperatures should climb above freezing allowing for plain rain and highs could actually approach the 50 degree mark. The threat for freezing rain will also occur towards morning across east-central, south-central and northeastern PA, and in these areas it may stay below freezing right through the morning hours.
