Discussion

Rainy weather this morning will begin quite an active weather week in the Mid-Atlantic region and, after temperatures hold near freezing early today, it should become milder this afternoon with highs approaching 50 degrees and nothing more than a shower. Moderately cold air will return by late tonight following a cold frontal passage and then we’ll have to watch a storm taking shape in the south-central states as it will head towards the Mid-Atlantic coastline at mid-week. This storm is likely to throw some rain our way late Wednesday that could then change to accumulating snow Wednesday night. High pressure will resume control for Thursday and Friday, but then a large upper-level trough will move to the east coast by the weekend generating a widespread cold air outbreak reaching as far south as Florida and it could help spawn a storm near the coast so we'll monitor that threat all week long.
