Discussion

Surface low pressure has pulled slowly to the northeast over the past 24 hours, but genuine clearing will not occur around here as an upper level trough will linger in the Northeast US for the next few days. This instability will keep alive the chance for a shower or two right through tonight. A gradual “step-down” cooling trend will begin today and continue through the weekend so that by Sunday and Monday our highs may not pass 40 degrees (normal high is now 50 degrees). This weekend's cool shot will make it all the way down to Florida where spring training fans and spring break travelers will need sweaters and jackets. Low pressure could affect the Mid-Atlantic by the middle of next week as an overall active weather pattern continues.
