Discussion

Low pressure will drop southeastward today across the Plains and should reach the North Carolina/Virginia border region by Wednesday. Significant precipitation is very likely from this storm across portions of West Virginia, Virginia, the DC metro region to the Delmarva Peninsula and possibly as far north as about the Pennsylvania Turnpike. At this time, only light precipitation amounts are expected in the NYC metro region, but it is still a rather close call. The best chance for significant snowfall will be in the higher elevations across eastern West Virginia, western Virginia and western Maryland where more than a foot of snow can accumulate. The storm pulls away on Thursday and high pressure takes over at the end of the week.
