Discussion

A significant storm has moved into the Mid-Atlantic region and precipitation here in SE PA should gradually change over to snow during the day and then continue as snow into the evening hours. We'll track the rain/snow line today as it slides to the east as the latest observations included snow in Harrisburg, PA, but rain was still occurring in Lancaster, PA. Accumulations on the order of 2-6 inches are possible across SE PA by later tonight with the higher amounts in that range to the south and west side of Philly and the lower amounts to the north and east. Heavier snowfall will pile up today across the DC metro region where 6-12 inches should fall up by early tonight with the western suburbs of the District hardest hit. Finally, in a strange twist, once this storm does pull off the east coast by later tonight, it'll tend to spin around for awhile and it could very well throw some more snow and/or rain back into our region tomorrow night/early Friday - more on that later and accumulations are possible.
